Nigerian whizkid Iheanacho came off the bench at half-time on Sunday to strike a leveller that earned Man City a point against Southampton.

Rashford then endured a miserable afternoon, along with the rest of the Man Utd squad, by finding himself on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing at Chelsea.

Rashford's stunning rise was somewhat enforced by the Red Devils' striker crisis at the end of last season.

Iheanacho had long been expected since being named the most promising player in Africa back in 2013.

Iheanacho has as astonishing minutes-per-goal ratio, having kicked off his scoring with a winner against Crystal Palace last season in just his second game for the club.

Once he had broken into City's squad, former boss Manuel Pellegrini liked what he saw and handed the youngster another 33 appearances last term.

Iheanacho was handed a string of starts due to injuries but has also profited from his team-mates running sides ragged before making his mark as a substitute and using his pace to kill off opponents late in the game.

He has has four goals in 11 league and cup matches going into tonight's game.

He repaid the faith in sensational fashion by netting twice that Thursday to see off Danish outfit Midtjylland before bagging another brace to down Arsenal in the Premier League the following Sunday.

After eight goals in 18 appearances in his maiden season, ex-England boss Roy Hodgson had seen enough to call him up - then taking him to the Euros.

Rashford then did exactly what he had done on his first appearance for United - score with his first shot on goal.

Despite often being deployed out wide by boss Jose Mourinho this season, he has still netted four times in 11 league and cup games.
