The Bosnia international left-back, 23, has been watched in the Bundesliga this season.

Kolasinac is out of contract at the end of June and can therefore talk to foreign clubs from January 1 and move on a Bosman-style free transfer at the end of the season.

However, West Ham boss Slaven Bilic may be tempted to make an offer in the January transfer window.

Liverpool chief Jurgen Klopp is desperate for more choice at left-back.

There are huge doubts over Alberto Moreno's ability although James Milner, 30, has filled in superbly.

But Klopp wants a long-term solution and is a big fan of the German-born star who opted to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina where his parents are from.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund chief  has excellent contacts in Germany.

He agreed a deal for Joel Matip on a Bosman-free from Schalke last February before bringing him to Anfield in the summer.

Kolasinac is in no rush to decide his future and said: "It must be good for both sides. I have no time pressure."

Schalke are keen to open discussions over a new deal and extend his current contract.

The Bundesliga club's director of sport Christian Heidel said: "Sead is a real Schalke boy, we would like to keep him."

Kolasinac was a target for Manchester City last year, according to his agent Gordon Stipic-Wipfler, while Serie A side Roma had a £5mllion bid rejected for him.
