OWEN HARGREAVES has been slammed by Twitter users for his commentary on Manchester City vs Barcelona.

As the two teams battle it out at the Etihad, Hargreaves' has come in for some criticism for his observations on the clash.

The game is being broadcast on BT Sport 2 tonight.

One social media user said that listening to Hargreaves commenting on the game reminded him how much he "misses Andy Townsend", while another said that the former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder "offers no tactical insight whatsoever".

Another highlighted that the 35-year-old's favourite word appeared to be "turnover", while Alex Hess tweeted to say that he "couldn't sound less engaged if he tried," and that he was an "odd bloke".

Hamish Hamilton pulled no punches when he described Hargreaves' commentary as "horrendous".
