In their first real attack of the afternoon, Nadiem Amiri found space down the left and pulled the ball back for the Turkish striker to fire past Manuel Neuer.

But Bayern — who were sporting a special friendly eco-friendly kit made out of recycled marine plastic debris — were level just 18 minutes later as Hoffenheim were punished for their first mistake of the afternoon.

However, despite a Bayern onslaught, the expected goalrush did not arrive.

Mats Hummels hit the post with just two minutes remaining — but Thomas Muller will be having nightmares about his stoppage time miss.

The German international found himself free inside the six-yard box, but somehow managed to hit the ball wide with practically the last kick of the game.
