His net new salary is estimated at £440k – the highest in the game’s history.

He will once again become the highest-paid Real player. Ronaldo’s new deal comes in the wake of Gareth Bale’s new six-year contract which is worth £360k a week after tax.

Lionel Messi’s estimated £400k a week net deal at Barcelona was the highest in the game till now. And Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed last week talks over a new deal for Messi will begin before the end of the year.

Ronaldo, who won the Champions League with Real and Euro 2016 with his country, is hot favourite to win this year’s Ballon D’Or.

In the seven seasons since his then world record £80m move from Old Trafford he’s become the highest goalscorer in the history of Real Madrid leaving legends Raul and Alfredo Di Stefano in his wake.

He’s also the record goal-scorer in Champions League history – ahead of his great rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo follows Bale's lead in signing new contract

GARETH BALE signed a new mega-bucks six-year deal at Real Madrid last week.
But, while sources close to Bale claimed it is worth a staggering £360,000 a week AFTER tax, Real Madrid insisted it is worth just half that.
At £360,000 a week net the Welshman, 27, would be on an astronomical £39million a year — £750,000 a week.
That would put him above Real team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar.
But Real officials have said the new deal actually puts Bale on a par with captain Sergio Ramos at £18m a year BEFORE tax.
