Williams has flown back from international duty with England's successful under-20 side to start work with the Swans immediately.

The FA have given Williams their blessing to go back to club football and he will take up the job full time with the Welsh outfit.

Williams was at Nottingham Forest last season as Dougie Freedman's number two and was his short-term replacement as manager.

Bradley has admitted privately that he has been found to be short of local expertise in his new role.

The American did not work in the Premier League before his surprise appointment on the advice of the club's new backers.

Bradley's own future has even been in doubt after a poor start but bringing in Williams could prop him up and avoid more drastic action.
