Following The Robins' 3-0 victory against Charlton on Saturday, Williams said that he was happy for the former Aston Villa and Tottenham boss to help out in the dugout.

But the "Tim Sherwood effect" didn't prove to be a positive one tonight.

National League Eastleigh took the lead after only 16 minutes. Jai Reason scoring from the left side of the box.

And the minnows went into the break with a shock 2-0 lead when Andy Drury beautifully chipped Swindon keeper Lawrence Vigouroux in the 35th minute.

But Eastleigh weren't done.

The 700 or so away fans were sent into raptures when Mikael Mandron, the hero of the first leg with a goal there, netted from the penalty spot after Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill had fouled Scott Wilson.

Sherwood/Williams' League One side gave themselves a fighting chance when ex-Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso scored with 11 minutes to go.

But it was too little too late, and the non-league side progress into the second round, where they will host Halifax, who defeated Dagenham 2-1.

Solihull Moors provided the other big shock of the round, with a thrilling penalty shoot-out success against Yeovil Town.

The game was locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes, but finally burst into life in extra time.

Francois Zoko put Yeovil ahead in the 93rd minute, before Akwasi Asante levelled things up six minutes later.

A penalty shoot-out was then required, and it was the National League strugglers who kept their nerve to win 4-2 on spot-kicks.
