And the hat-trick of handsome victories was completed by City's U15s who crushed their United counterparts 9-0 in a Floodlit Cup match on Tuesday night.
If anything, City took their foot off the gas in the second period after going in 6-0 up at the break.
One of the centre-halves banged a first-half hat-trick, while midfielder Tommy Doyle finished with five assists in the crushing victory.
An academy fan tweeted that it was "29 goals scored in the group and non conceded", before highlighting that "Manchester is blue".
The Man United Academy is perhaps best known for the fruits it reaped with the "class of 92".
David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville and Nicky Butt were just some of the talent to burst into the first team at Old Trafford, and go onto great things.
Butt is now head of the academy at United, so these recent results may prove their is some work to do to prevent them being overshadowed by their "noisy neighbour".
A look at the U18 team however, sees that Man United are top of the league, two points clear of City who are second.
But with three games in hand, City will fancy their chances of sitting at the summit come Christmas time.
