THINK OF THE AIR MILES

Why David Luiz and Willian went long haul while Brazilian team-mates took private jet

Chelsea boys clock up more air miles as Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Fernandinho get home a day earlier

LIVERPOOL and Manchester City paid £120,000 to fly their Brazilian players home from Peru on a private jet - but Chelsea made their stars return on a long haul flight.

Knackered Blues ace David Luiz did not look best pleased with the prospect of another flight – writing "too many flights" on Instagram.

His picture was in sharp contrast to the smiling Reds' pair Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino as they settled into the trip on their luxurious jet.

Along with Paris St Germain, who had Marquinhos and Thiago Silva on Brazilian duty, the Reds and City pitched in to share the cost of hiring a £120,000 private jet to bring their stars back in better shape ready for the weekend's Premier League action.

It seems Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was the main instigator for the private jet.

It meant that Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, and City's Fernandinho enjoyed an extra day's training ahead of Chelsea's Willian and Luiz.

City also paid for a private jet for their Argentine stars Sergio Aguero, Nicolas Otamendi and Pablo Zabaleta.

Liverpool take on Southampton at St Mary's on Satuday, while City travel to Crystal Palace.

Chelsea go to Middlesbrough on Sunday.

RMC Sport claim the Blues’ players travelled 1,000 miles more than their Liverpool and Manchester City counterparts.

Hence Luiz's Instagram repost following Brazil's 2-0 win over Peru.
