Moise Kean becomes first millennial to play in Champions League after coming on for Juventus aged 16

MOISE KEAN became the first player born this millennium to play in the Champions League – and the fourth youngest to appear in the competition – after the 16-year-old Juventus starlet was a late sub in the win over Sevilla on Tuesday night.

The Juve teenager was born on 28 February 2000 and was 16 years and 267 days old on Tuesday when he replaced Miralem Pjanic with six minutes of the 2-1 away win to play.

The wonder kid was waved on by English Premier League ref Mark Clattenburg, for his European debut, just days after making his Serie A bow after the Turin side was hit by a plethora of injuries to first-team stars and regulars.

Marko Pjaca, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain all missed the trip to Spain so the eager youngster was thrown in the deep end but made the move seamlessly after being a late replacement for Mario Mandzukic in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Pescara.

When the striker took to the field at the weekend he became the first player born after 2000 to play in the any of Europe’s top four leagues.

Former Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro is still the youngest player to compete in the Champions League after playing for Anderlecht at the start of his career aged 16 years and 87 days.

And current Premier League midfielder Cesc Fabregas is the third youngest player to score in the competition after he bagged for Arsenal in 2004 aged 17 years and 218 days.

Kean has attracted interest from the likes of Man City and Arsenal for his performances at youth level.
