Jose Mourinho reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be staying at Manchester United for another year

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC will be staying at Manchester United for another year, Jose Mourinho has revealed.

The Old Trafford boss is happy with the performances of the 35-year-old striker and has extended his deal to the end of next season.

He said: "The Zlatan situation is simple - he has a one-year deal plus a one-year option.

"We are happy with him and we are going to execute the option of a second season.

"After that he can do what he wants to. He is committed, loving his life here. Eighteen months more, then he owns the decision over his future."

Another year in Manchester could put an end to Ibrahimovic's apparent desire to end his career in the MLS in America.

The iconic Sweden striker has scored eight goals for United this season, including a brace in his last game against Swansea.

That double broke a goalscoring drought that had lasted more than a month.

But a booking in the 3-1 away win meant he missed the 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend.

His performances have so far been solid rather than spectacular but Mourinho is certain he wants to keep him at the club.

Ibrahimovic already has one piece of silverware with the Red Devils after lifting the Community Shield back in August.

The ex-Sweden captain - who will be honoured with a statue in his home country - said no talks had taken place over his future but that he will stay.

He said: "For the moment, we haven’t had any discussions. I feel good and fresh, so if I feel like I do now, probably there will be a second year.

"The second year becomes automatic after a while, if there is no word from me or the club."
