Former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has criticised his ex manager Jose Mourinho for destroying his Blues ‘dream’

The German winger signed for the London club in 2013 but left under two years heading back to the Bundesliga

ANDRE SCHURRLE has lambasted his old boss Jose Mourinho for destroying his Chelsea 'dream' and not having faith in him.

The former Blues fan favourite was shipped off back to the Bundesliga after just 18 months to Wolfsburg, having only signed for the London outfit back in the summer of 2013.

Mourinho himself signed the lively winger from Bayer Leverkusen when he returned to Stamford Bridge, before he deemed him not good enough for his squad, and sold him for £22 million.

The 26-year-old has now moved on again and is impressing for Borussia Dortmund, but still feels hurt that his playing time for Chelsea was cut short.

He told Bild: "Chelsea was a dream for me. But after I was out for a few weeks through an infection, the coach unfortunately did not count on me much more often.

"Mourinho showed me how hard life can be as a footballer. If you had one bad game, you would be out of the team.

"My experience at Chelsea was great, playing with so many superstars – it was just like I had imagined it.

"Playing for Chelsea was an absolute dream for me, but following my infection, the manager no longer counted on me."

Before his unfortunate illness, Schurrle had established himself as a key player for the Blues.

He found the back of the net 14 times in 64 appearances, and made a habit of turning up in the big games, with goals against Manchester City, Arsenal and a vital goal away at Paris Saint-Germain to secure Chelsea's passage into the Champions League semi-final in 2014.

Even though he left before his side won the 2014/15 Premier League and League Cup, he amassed enough matches to be awarded winners medals.
