MANCHESTER UNITED defender Marcos Rojo insists Jose Mourinho’s men remain merry despite their Premier League title dreams lying in tatters.

On the cusp of Christmas, United are already a massive 11 points off Premier League pace setters Chelsea - EIGHT outside the essential top-four places - and have the Portuguese boss facing another severe FA charge.

But the Argentinean who - along with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling - has failed to fill in sufficiently for injured first-choice centre-back Eric Bailly insists the Old Trafford flops are still enjoying the craic in the hope of boosting team spirit.

Ahead of the EFL clash with West Ham on Wednesday night, the 26-year-old told United Review: "We’re always together and, after training, we have fun just like any other team.

"It’s very important that we’re united off the pitch and pulling in the same direction, as this helps when a game comes around.

"When you have that, you’re united on the pitch without even realising it and everyone works hard for each other and the manager too."

The powerful South American could face the taunting task of marking fit-again Hammers striker Andy Carroll after he returned to fitness.

And the selfie-loving centre-half admitted he struggles to cope when he comes up against the blood-and-thunder style of Slaven Bilic’s side.

He said: “They are a team that don’t give you anything for free.

"They battle, they’re a physically strong side and they’re aggressive, and they know how they want to play. I’ve never had an easy game against them.

"But this competition is a chance for us to win the first silverware of the season, so we will give our all. It will be a difficult match but hopefully we’ll go through."
