Liverpool transfer news: Borussia Dortmund crush any hopes of Jurgen Klopp signing wonderkid Christian Pulisic

BORUSSIA DORTMUND have told Liverpool not to waste their time in pursuing talented teenager Christian Pulisic.

The American international remains one of the Reds' top transfer targets having launched a £11million bid for him in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp is a massive admirer of Pulisic and with the latest injury to Philippe Coutinho combined with Sadio Mane set for the African Cup of Nations, the German looked braced to return with another improved offer.

But the Bundesliga giants have quashed any hopes of Liverpool signing the 18-year-old.

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc told Bild: "It's not worth the effort for Liverpool."

Pulisic has started six league and four Champions League matches this season scoring twice but is building a reputation as one of football's best rising stars.

Elsewhere the Reds have been told they must stump up £50m if they want to land Southampton star Virgil van Dijk.

That is the views of ex-Saints legend Matt Le Tissier.

He said: "From what I have seen this season, I’d suggest it would take between £40-50m to get Virgil van Dijk away from Southampton."
