The 2005 Champions League winner was touted to become the latest MK Dons manager last month, only to turn down the job, allowing Robbie Neilson to take over the reins.

And it would appear Gerrard has taken the advice of current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who urged him to take a low-key job for his first crack at coaching, rather than take on a first-team role.

The Liverpool-born star has long been tipped to be a future Reds manager - and his youth team role could be the first step towards that.

Gerrard recently retired from playing, after 18 months at MLS side the Los Angles Galaxy, following his incredible 17 seasons at Anfield.

Before being offered the MK Dons manager position, Stevie G was also subject to a lucrative offer from Serie A giants AC Milan, only for the Englishman to turn them down.

Gerrard has frequently been spotted at Liverpool's Melwood training facility in recent months, chatting with Klopp.

It would seem the German boss has been sweet-talking Gerrard into a deal at the club, as having a man of his calibre can only be a coup for the young Reds.
