Marouane Fellaini: Manchester United midfielder’s Everton performance branded ‘garbage’ and ‘pathetic’ by Gary Neville
Belgian came off the bench to help Red Devils hold on to 1-0 advantage but instead gave away penalty with cheap challenge
MAROUANE FELLAINI has come under fire from Gary Neville after giving away a late penalty against Everton.
The midfielder made a clumsy challenge on Idrissa Gueye just minutes after coming off the bench as Manchester United led 1-0 at Goodison Park.
Leighton Baines slotted in the equaliser, resulting in more dropped points for Jose Mourinho’s Champions League hopefuls.
And United icon Neville reckons Fellaini’s forgetful cameo was pure ‘rubbish’, claiming the player has let his club and manager down with his ‘pathetic’ effort.
Neville told Sky Sports: “It’s just rubbish from Fellaini. It’s obvious – as soon as you commit yourself in the box you’re in danger of giving a penalty away. It’s garbage from him.
“It’s nothing to do with the manager. He’s made the substitution for the right reason and the player has let him down.
“It is really pathetic from such an experienced player. He’s come on to actually see a game out. No composure and it was obvious what was coming, you could see it a mile off.
