ARSENAL duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are demanding staggering new deals that could see them pocket close to £290,000-a-week.

The club may be forced to rethink their current salary structure in order to hold onto their stars who reportedly believe they should be earning a wage similar to that of the Premier League's highest paid player - Manchester United's Paul Pogba.

the North London club are only prepared to table an offer close to £200,000-a-week, but that's well short of the players' expectations.

German midfielder Ozil, 28, already collects a salary of £140,000-a-week, higher than any other player at Arsenal - and £10,000 more than teammate Sanchez, 27.

The latest demands of Ozil and Sanchez are likely to upset the club's long serving boss who previously stated that no player should earn more than the man in charge.

The pair have just 18 months left on their current contracts and are adamant their importance to Arsenal and their 'status in the world game' should be reflected in their new deals.

Although Arsenal are hopeful of reaching an agreement with the players, they are inevitably on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world, with likes of Juventus and Manchester City monitoring their situations.

Sanchez, who is now convinced his best position is as a striker, scored a hat-trick in Saturday’s 5-1 win at West Ham underlying his significance to the club's title chase.

Ozil opened the scoring against the sorry Hammers to add his eighth goal of the season to his impressive tally.
