Ismail Mrisho Khalfan, 19, suffered a heart attack after a routine tackle minutes after finding the back of the net for Mbao FC’s U20s in Tanzania.

Khalfan celebrated his goal with an elaborate dance routine involving ‘The Worm’ move.

But tragedy struck as he suddenly collapsed to the ground and rolled onto his back.

The ref immediately stopped play as paramedics rushed to the scene and lifted his legs to help blood keep flowing to his heart.

However, Khalfan was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival at the Bukoba Regional Government Hospital.

The Tanzania Football Federation released a statement shortly after the incident mourning the loss of the young ace.

It read: “We have received with deep sorrow the news about the death of the player and we send our condolences to the parents, family and teammates.”
