REAL MADRID broke a club record after their 3-2 win over Deportivo ensured their unbeaten streak reached a staggering 35 matches.

But it took a late charge and a stroke of tactical genius by Zinedine Zidane as on-loan Stoke striker Joselu gave the home side a major second-half scare.

The striker scored twice in two minutes after Alvaro Morata had given Zidane's side the lead five minutes into the second half.

Just as though Deportivo looked as though they were on their way to win at the Bernabeu for just the third time in 45 visits, super sub Mariano met Lucas' cross to score his first La Liga goal at the perfect time.

Ramos then powered a trademark late header for the second consecutive league match to ensure the incredible unbeaten streak continued.

Zidane opted to rest both Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema for the clash as just three survivors from El Clasico last weekend made the starting XI.

And he may have been regretting the decision after a drab 45 minutes saw the sides go in level at the break despite Borges hitting the post for the away side.

The game sparked into life just five minutes into the second half when Isco squared the ball to Morata.

Standing in for Benzema, the Spaniard turned the defender and unleashed a stunning 25-yard strike into the far corner to leave Zidane applauding on the touchline.

But his side took their foot off the peddle and 13 minutes later Joselu had the sides level when Casemiro was robbed of possession by Carles Gil. The ex-Aston Villa man squared the ball to Joselu who hit a wonderful left-footed effort into the roof of the net.

It was his first goal for the club and two minutes later he had doubled his tally. Florin Andone laid it on a plate to Joselu who kept his composure to stun the Bernabeu into silence.

Zidane introduced Mariano and Marcelo into the frame and it was the former who grabbed a deserved equalised when his header looped over the goalkeeper.

That was before Ramos ensured the win that leaves Madrid six points clear at the top.
