ANTHONY MARTIAL ventures on a shopping trip with his girlfriend after being left at home by Jose Mourinho as Manchester United take on Crystal Palace.

Whilst the Red Devils made their way to the capital for their Premier League clash at Selhurst Park, the France international popped into Selfridges with his partner Melanie Da Cruz.

Martial had a smile on his face and held up the piece sign with his left hand, as he held a Selfridges bag in his full grey Nike tracksuit and black cap.

Martial has had a turbulent season under the Special One after scoring just four times in 18 appearances.

The 21-year-old still has a lot to learn but he proved his goal scoring talent after bagging a brace in a 4-1 win over West Ham in the EFL Cup.

And it has come as a surprise that Mourinho has chosen to ditch the forward out of the squad all together, after being involved in their last four matches.

In United's last game he started in a crucial away win against fellow title contenders Tottenham last Sunday.

This is not the first time Martial has been dropped, after he was left out of their 4-0 away win against Feyenoord.

And Mourinho confirmed the forward was fit for the match but just chose to leave him at home.

Mourinho said: "The players have to win their positions. They are friends, they are colleagues who work together every day but in the end they compete between themselves to have more chance to play.

"Anthony played against Arsenal. Thursday [against Feyenoord] was a moment to give [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan a chance to start."
