BRAVE Bradley Lowery was cheered on by thousands of supporters at the Stadium of Light as he scored a goal against Chelsea keeper Asmir Begovic.

The five-year-old Sunderland fan, who is battling cancer, led out the Black Cats' team on Wednesday ahead of the Premier League fixture.

And he raised the roof by slipping the ball past Chelsea's No2 stopper Begovic.

Treatment for Bradley's spreading cancer, which he is fighting for a second time, means Bradley will not be able to mix with people over the coming weeks, to protect his immune system.

So the youngster made the most of his time at the ground of his favourite club, hugging Sunderland's top scorer Jermain Defoe before kick off.

He also spent time with Chelsea's Diego Costa and beamed for a photo with most of the Blues' starting XI.

Sunderland paid a touching tribute to the young fan, showing his name on the back of a No5 Sunderland shirt on the big screen.

Bradley was given an inside tour of the facilities at Sunderland's training ground.

Black Cats boss David Moyes said: "Bradley came in late afternoon and we took him down the gym and around the swimming pool.

"He had the boxing gloves on and he was running around for about half an hour and said ‘hello’. It was good to see him."

The Scot, 53, added: "We are very privileged being in the position we are in, the players especially, so it is nice to give something back.

"It was great to see him. Sometimes it is just inspiration to see young people like that."
