The Colombia star has played only eight games in the league this season and shows no real sign of being utilised fully by boss Zinedine Zidane, despite his previous insistence that he will not sell Rodriguez.

It is thought the Bernabeu side will be reluctant to let Rodriguez go because of the injury to Gareth Bale.

The Wales winger is out until February after undergoing ankle surgery following the Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon last month.

Rodriguez has failed to deliver for Real since his £75m signing from Monaco in 2014.

He was top scorer in the 2014 World Cup and won the Puskas Award for his unbelievable volley against Uruguay.

It is claimed that Rodriguez's arrival could be beneficial for winger Eden Hazard, arguably the Blues' most important player.

With another powerhouse in midfielder Conte may not be so reluctant to rest the Belgian.

But with his link-up play with Premier League top scorer Diego Costa being so good, it begs the question why he would want to leave him on the bench anyway.
