SERGIO RAMOS has given wantaway teammate James Rodriguez a public ticking-off as Real Madrid prepare to sell the Colombian in January.
Rodriguez revealed in the wake of Real’s Club World Cup win that he plans on leaving next month in search of first-team football.
The playmaker has struggled to make an impact under Zinedine Zidane this season and is reportedly attracting interest from no less than five major European clubs.
Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to be extremely keen, but they are trailing in the wakes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Blues are said to be readying a £75million offer as they bid farewell to £60m-rated Oscar, while United are looking for an extra spark in midfield to lift the weight off leading goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shoulders.
But Real captain Ramos is not pleased Rodriguez chose to speak out after Sunday’s 4-2 win over Kashima Antlers and believes the act was a selfish one, saying: “It’s not a day for personal issues.
“I hold him in high regard and I hope he stays, but today wasn’t a day to focus on other matters.”
Nonetheless, Real are refusing to accept any bids until they discover the results of their transfer ban appeal at the end of December.
Spanish newspaper claims Zidane does not want to sell Rodriguez unless he can sign a ready-made replacement, but will settle for a straight-up fee of just £50m if the embargo is lifted.
