And he could be joined at Arsenal by West Ham’s midfield magician Dimitri Payet after the Frenchman opened the door to a sensational switch across the capital.
He has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium since he burst onto the Premier League in impressive fashion last season in his debut campaign.
Wenger, as well as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, are all interested in the 29-year-old – but a move to Arsenal would be a hard one for Payet to resist.
He told RMC: "I read that Wenger considers me the missing piece of the Arsenal's game, but he's never told me that.
"We conceded five or six at home against them. When you see them playing, as a technical player, you could only have fun in that team. They're candidates for the title every year."
One man who looks unlikely to be arriving in North London is Germany international Julian Draxler.
The winger is desperate to leave Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and could go as soon as next month.
But BeIN Sports claim that the wideman has told compatriot and PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp that he would like to join him at the Parc des Princes instead of Arsenal.
