HENRIKH MKHITARYAN lit up Old Trafford with an outrageous back-heel volley and hailed it as his greatest-ever goal.

The Manchester United star flicked out his right leg in mid-air to connect with a cross which was behind him — and somehow sent it past Jordan Pickford  as United made it four Premier League wins in a row.

Mkhi said: “It’s the best goal I ever scored. I’m very excited. I had a great feeling.

“The first thing I did was to look to the assistant. I saw that it wasn’t offside and I started to celebrate.

“I was expecting the ball in front of me. I got it behind me so the only thing I could do was to hit it with the back-heel. I did, and succeeded.”

Jose Mourinho hailed the 86th-minute wonder strike — already a favourite to be goal of the season — although his man was  offside when Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cross came in.

The United boss also praised sub Mkhitaryan’s work ethic and attitude.

The Armenian midfielder, 27, missed two months with a thigh injury picked up against rivals Manchester City in September.

Mourinho said: “For me, it was phenomenal. He scored in the right goal at the Stretford End.

“It was a great moment and for him very important.

“All his career he has scored beautiful goals. At the moment it is not just his goals, it is his defensive work, his creativity.

“I’m so happy he has come back after his injury and he came back with his happiness and his feeling that people love him at Old Trafford and that is a very important feeling for him."
