PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have rejected claims that the club have agreed a loan deal with Fenerbahce for Hatem Ben Arfa.

Media outlets in Turkey suggested the move was all but signed, but PSG say no agreement has been reached despite reportedly allowing the player permission to leave.

According to SunSport's sources in France, PSG did not deny that they were in negotiations with Fenerbahce despite denying the deal had been completed.

Ben Arfa, 29, who has played 18 games so far this season, scoring one goal and making two assists, has struggled to hit the heights he displayed for Nice last season.

The former Newcastle flop, who joined Unai Emery's side on a free transfer during the summer, rejected an initial approach from the Turkish outfit and vowed to fight for his place at the Parc des Princes.

The Super Lig club first expressed their interest in Ben Arfa last month and were thought to be preparing a six month loan deal with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

But any potential deal seemingly collapsed with the player then unwilling to leave the PSG.

After a bright start to life in the Premier League at Newcastle in 2010, Ben Arfa had his contract terminated on Tyneside in January 2015 after his early return from an unsuccessful loan spell at Hull City.

He quickly returned to his homeland to sign for Nice, but due to Fifa regulations, he was unable to play again until the start of last season, where he enjoyed a fine campaign leading to his big move last summer.

Claude Puel helped to rejuvenate the career of one of France's lost prospects at Nice, and has also reportedly shown an interest in working with the player again, this time at Southampton.

Ben Arfa realised his boyhood fantasy of donning the navy shirt of PSG, but his dream is rapidly turning into a living nightmare.
