Mike Dean: Premier League ref becomes top trend on Twitter after Spurs win again with referee in charge
Dean has awarded Spurs two red cards and sent off three opponents when officiating the north London club
MIKE DEAN has drawn anger for his performance in Tottenham's win at Southampton.
The Premier League referee has become a top trend after seemingly "helping" Mauricio Pochettino's side to a 4-1 win at St Mary's.
Rival fans took to social media to blast the man in the middle after he sent off Nathan Redmond and handed Spurs a penalty - despite the foul taking place well outside the box.
Former Spurs and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports: "He pulls him back a little bit then stumbles into him. I don't see it as a penalty.
"It's harsh. The contact is outside the box, although it is a difficult one. I think Mike Dean could have been more lenient. It's extremely harsh."
Kane would miss the penalty in hilarious fashion, but critics of Dean noticed his recent record in Spurs matches was lopsided.
He has taken charge of three Spurs games this season and the north London club have won all three.
Not only that, but Spurs' opponents have had a man sent off in each match, while Tottenham were given a late penalty in the 3-2 win against West Ham.
Looking further into the past and Spurs have won six (drawing one) of the last seven matches that has had Dean in the middle - those games have seen five penalties awarded to Tottenham.
Dean was also criticised for missing Jan Vertonghen's eye gouge on Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.
The 48-year-old sparked more anger when he shook hands with Mousa Dembele as the midfielder was subbed off.
A number of fans took to social media to air their displeasure:
