Cardiff fans will undoubtedly be frustrated at having to make such a long journey on a Friday night only to discover less than two hours before kick-off that the game was off.

It will take some sorry Bluebird fans almost seven hours to complete the round-trip to the Championship high-flyers.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton inspected the pitch along with a member of his and Cardiff's coaching team before the decision was announced.

The clash will now be rescheduled for a later date before each club makes a decision on tickets purchased for the postponed game.

Brighton were hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Championship whereas Cardiff are struggling towards the foot of the table, just four points above relegation.

The fog didn't deter the League Two clash between Yeovil and Portsmouth who are battling through the elements despite the impaired vision.

Even Pompey's social media team had a hard time reporting on the game when they couldn't tell whether the ball had gone out for a corner or a throw in.
