Buoyed by the massive payout after selling Oscar for £60million, Conte will lodge an initial bid of around £34m for the Bayern Munich star.

But Bayern are likely to reject that and hold out for closer to £40m.

Conte will feel confident in luring the Chilean to Stamford Bridge should Bayern accept a bid.

The Italian first took Vidal to Juve from Bayer Leverkusen during his three-year reign at the Turin club.

Vidal, 29, won Serie A in each season under Conte and was integral to Juve's success.

He was also named the club's Player of the Year in 2013 and placed in the Serie A Team of the Year in 2013 and 2014.
