When asked about the contract situation just after Juventus’ defeat to AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup on December 23, he said: “I haven’t signed anything yet.

“We will see what happens.”

And report the player has informed Real Madrid president Perez of his desire to make the switch to the Bernabeu.

Barcelona are also watching the situation from afar — but they are in no position to compete with their Clasico rivals financially unless they sell a big player.

Dybala earns significantly less than record signing Gonzalo Higuain, who moved from Napoli in the summer.

He is in talks with Juventus over a new contract, which he is expected to sign — but only to increase his price.

Following decades of financial dominance in football, Serie A clubs can no longer compete with the Premier League’s spending power, or La Liga heavyweights, Real Madrid.

The sensational £75million-signing of Higuain was only possible because the Bianoconeri sold Paul Pogba to Manchester United for a world record fee.
