Mike Dean got it totally wrong by sending off West Ham’s Sofiane Feghouli and it hindered his decision making for rest of the game
MIKE DEAN has got it totally wrong.
When the challenge went in initially I thought it was actually Phil Jones who was going to be sent off.
Jones comes in at pace and clears the ball. It is a strong challenge.
It’s a 50-50 tackle with both players going for the ball and if anything, Sofiane Feghouli looks like he pulled out.
I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the challenge.
Mike looks away and then looks back and sees Jones on the ground in agony.
Perhaps he felt disappointed that he missed Ross Barkley’s shocking tackle on Jordan Henderson only a couple of weeks ago and he has guessed because of what happened at Goodison Park and he felt he couldn’t take any chances.
No one could help him because his two assistants are too far away.
But he has misread the challenge and the incident. It’s a key match decision which totally changed the course of the game.
It’s unlike Mike but he’s gone by the player’s reaction.
Players do not help referees in the Premier League. Jones rolling around hasn’t helped the situation one bit.
Now West Ham should appeal the decision for wrongful dismissal and they should have a good chance of winning.
