Speculation around the 25-year-old remains strong after the five league goals he scored in his first 15 games in Germany’s top flight.

Forsberg’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya – who also represents Manchester United target Victor Lindelof -told Bild: “I can’t confirm any names. But after the great first half of the season, big clubs have reached out to me.

“RB are on a good way to become a big club, which plays in Champions League soon.

"In spite of that I can’t promise that Emil will stay in Leipzig this winter.

“It’s about what Leipzig plans for him. I will seek talks with sporting director Ralf Rangnick in the next few days.”

Forsberg would be a perfect addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side with his all-action style and versatility to play anywhere in an attacking midfield three.

On top of the goals, in his 12 league starts and three sub showings he has weighed in with an impressive eight assists

The 25-year-old moved to Germany from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s old club Malmo, for just £3m in January 2015 and has helped lift the club from the second tier to top-flight title contenders.

Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl is aware of the growing speculation around his player but hopes he’ll stay on.

He said: “I’d like to think that all players currently with us will still be around at the end of the season.”
