Manchester United transfer news: Sam Johnstone joins Aston Villa on loan for remainder of the season
Goalkeeper yet to make a senior appearance for Red Devils and will now be hoping for first-team chances at new club
ASTON VILLA have confirmed the arrival of Sam Johnstone on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season.
23-year-old Johnstone will look to notch up some valuable first-team minutes under ex-Red Devil Steve Bruce.
The United youth product is yet to make a senior appearance despite being tipped for greatness earlier in his career.
Boss Jose Mourinho was desperate to see him get some experience elsewhere, with Sergio Romero currently providing cover for David De Gea.
And Johnstone will now be hoping to see his career progress after spending the last two seasons out on loan at Preston North End.
He said: “I’m really pleased to have joined Aston Villa, it’s a massive club. I’m really excited to be here.
“Joining Aston Villa is an opportunity I jumped at. It’s one you simply can’t turn down.
