Chelsea transfer news: Arsenal and Manchester City target Steven N’Zonzi urged to stay at Sevilla

French midfielder is being lined up for Premier League return this month but Spaniards are desperate for him to stay put

SEVILLA are hopeful that Steven N’Zonzi will reject Premier League interest this month and remain in Spain.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke midfielder is a £25million target for both Chelsea and Manchester City.

While Pep Guardiola sees him as an ideal replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, who will miss the rest of the season through injury.

There has also been interest from Arsenal and ambitious Everton, but SunSport understands N’Zonzi has no intention of going to Goodison Park.

The 28-year-old has already admitted he’s flattered to be linked with some of Europe’s biggest names.

But Sevilla are keeping their fingers crossed he decides to stay put and pen a new contract instead.

President Jose Castro said: “N’Zonzi is a magnificent player. If he was good before, now he is better. We want him to stay here for a long time. We need good players in order to achieve our sporting objectives.

“His renewal? The player is succeeding at Sevilla and has to think that the people want him, and that we are enjoying his game. I hope that he is here for a long time and [that he is] so happy.”
