MANCHESTER UNITED are hoping to hit a Raheem Sterling-style jackpot after appointing the man who found him.
Former Anfield senior scout Mark Anderson persuaded Liverpool to sign Sterling as a 15 year old from the QPR Academy.
He cost just £600,000 back in August 2010 but five years later he left for Manchester City in a deal worth a total of £49M.
Anderson, who later became head of recruitment at Brighton, received a personal letter of thanks from Kenny Dalglish for discovering Sterling.
But now it is Anderson's job to discover another gem for the Reds' arch rivals United after arriving at Old Trafford.
This is not the first time Jose Mourinho has added new faces to the scouting set up at Old Trafford since replacing Louis van Gaal last summer.
During his shake up of the backroom staff he offered Marcel Bout the role as Manchester United's head of global scouting - Bout is the only remaining member of Van Gaal's reign.

Bout was initially assigned as the club's opposition scout but has since been at the forefront of Mourinho's new scouting set up.
Former Dundee United defender Armand Benneker was also brought into the scouting network by Mourinho.
Benneker was formerly the first-team scout at Swiss side FC St. Gallen and said there was a slice of luck alongside hard work as he got the job last year.
He told : "Of course I have worked hard for it, but sometimes it just takes a bit of luck.
"The first contact was in June. There are a few kilometres on me. The fact is that it is the goal for United to have the best scouting system worldwide."
