Arsenal transfer news: Gunners tracking highly-rated Wimbledon teenager Toby Sibbick

Gunners face competition for the right-back, 17, from West Ham and Watford

ARSENAL are continuing their pursuit of young defenders by tracking Wimbledon whizkid Toby Sibbick.

The 17-year-old is highly-rated by the Wombles and should feature against Hull in the FA Youth Cup tonight.

The Gunners are keeping tabs on his progress along with West Ham and Watford.

Sibbick signed a new deal with AFC in August and has been likened to Bournemouth full-back Tyrone Mings.

Sibbick is primarily a right-back but has also played in the centre.

Last week, Arsene Wenger moved to bring in non-league defender Cohen Bramall from Hednesford Town.

The Arsenal boss has used the lower leagues as a fertile ground to buy defenders in recent years.

Rob Holding was bought from League One Bolton Wanderers in the summer, while last summer Jordi Osei-Tutu was signed from Reading.

Speaking after the signing of Holding in the summer, Wenger admitted he is scouring lower leagues for talent.

"I’ve said to our scouts to look at the lower leagues because the good players are there now.

"Don’t forget we have many foreign players in the Premier League but good English players have to go down to develop.

"What I think will happen is that you will have more and more players coming out of the lower leagues who have had to fight their way through."
