Manchester United transfer news: Jesse Lingard agrees new Red Devils contract worth £95,000-a-week until 2021
Deal includes extra year option and winger was delighted to sign after becoming important man for Jose Mourinho
JESSE LINGARD has agreed a new four-year deal with Manchester United worth £95,000 a week.
A contract stand off over December has now ended with the player committing himself to the club until 2021 with the option of an extra year.
Winger Lingard is well liked by Mourinho who has convinced him that he is very much part of his first team.
Lingard was on £30,000 a week and the club had offered to double that.
Now they have returned with improved terms that the player and his representatives have agreed to.
SunSport revealed in September that both parties wanted to commit to each other.
The 24-year-old Warrington born academy graduate has just 18 months left on his current contract and the club were keen that did not to stretch into the final 12 months.
Lingard had loan moves to Leicester, Birmingham, Brighton and Derby before finally establishing himself in the United first team last season when he made 33 starts under Louis van Gaal.
He has followed that up this season with another 12 plus six as substitutes despite strong competition for the wide places behind the lone striker.
Lingard also has three England caps.
