DIMITRI PAYET'S wife has moved back to France as her husband tries to force a transfer back to former club Marseille, according to reports.

The West Ham star is on strike as he attempts to quit the East End club and wife Ludivine has made it clear her future is not in London.

There is no indication that a fee between the two clubs has been agreed, although it is expected that Marseille will come back in with another bid to tempt West Ham in to selling.

Marseille and West Ham representatives are set to meet to discuss a deal before the club's next match with Middlesbrough at the weekend.

If a deal is agreed it is likely Payet would not join his former side until after this campaign has finished, which could indicate why his wife has moved back home.

Perhaps Payet is trying to force West Ham in to accepting the situation and sanctioning a transfer this month, otherwise he will be forced to remain at the London Stadium.

Payet wants to return to his homeland in what has been a shocking revelation in this transfer window, West Ham have struggled since leaving Upton Park, but so has the 29 year old.

If his decision to leave has nothing to do with the state of West Ham's season, and is purely down to him wanting to return to France, then it seems a little more understandable, although the way he has behaved is completely unacceptable.

A return to Marseille however does not make much sense, Payet has flirted with talk of a move to a bigger club and many feel his former team would be a step backwards.

PSG have showed no interest whatsoever since Payet has declared he does not want to play for West Ham again and that is surely do with the fact they have just signed Julian Draxler from Wolfsburg for £38m.

No other 'big club' in Europe has shown any interest, which is good news for Marseille, but the Hammers will not settle for anything less than £30m.
