Arjen Robben signs new one-year deal at Bayern Munich as German giants eye PSG star Marco Veratti
Dutch ace stays put - but his old club Chelsea steel themselves for £70million tug-of-war as Veratti race really hots up
ARJEN ROBBEN has extended his contract with Bayern Munich until 2018.
The former Chelsea winger, 32, was offered a further year on his existing deal and was delighted to accept.
The Dutchman: "I am happy that I will be playing another year at FC Bayern. The club is among the best in the world and Munich has become a second home for me and my family. "
Chelsea, meanwhile, face new competition for midfielder Marco Verratti from Bayern.
Reports in France claim that Carlo Ancelotti wants to tempt the Paris Saint-Germain player to the Bundesliga.
Chelsea were confident of securing a deal for the 24-year-old.
But Le Parisien reports that Ancelotti has already spoken to the Italy international regarding a potential move to the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season.
It seems Ancelotti has made the signing of Verratti his top priority as he seeks a long-term replacement for Xabi Alonso.
Bayern Munich will need to bid at least £70 million to tempt PSG into selling their midfielder.
Last month, reports claimed that Verratti was Antonio Conte’s priority transfer target.
Verratti’s current contract with PSG expires in 2021.
