Hull midfielder Ryan Mason receives tributes from footballing world after suffering fractured skull

Gareth Bale joined past and present footballers as tributes flooded in to show support to the midfielder

GARETH BALE led tributes to Hull midfielder Ryan Mason who has sustained a fractured skull after a sickening clash of heads with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

The Tigers midfielder was rushed St Mary's Hospital and underwent emergency neuro surgery following the incident in the defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Hull confirmed the midfielder had suffered a fractured skull in a statement via their  but said he is in a stable condition.

The statement read: "The Club can confirm that Ryan Mason sustained a skull fracture in our fixture at Chelsea this afternoon.

"He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he has undergone surgery.

"Ryan is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days.

"A further update will be issued tomorrow."

Following the deeply concerning update past and present footballers have shown their support towards Mason on social media.
