Manchester United transfer news: Marcus Rashford set for pay rise as Jose Mourinho looks to tie him to club until 2021

England teen sensation will be paid an extra £5,000-a-week for each year of his new deal - which will kick in next season

MARCUS RASHFORD will be handed another Manchester United pay-rise next season after winning over boss Jose Mourinho.

The England striker, 19, is already paid around £20,000-a-week after signing a new four-year deal last summer.

And SunSport understands his money increases over the lifetime of the contract, by around £5,000-a-week each year.

United chiefs also inserted an option to extend it by another 12-months, meaning he could be at the club until at least 2021.

Mourinho was critical of Rashford earlier in the season, believing he had lost focus since signing mega-money terms.

But his attitude in training and during recent matches has turned the ex-Chelsea boss' opinion around.

An Old Trafford source said: "Rashford is in-line for another rise next season, on top of his current wages.

"Part of the agreement on that deal was an increase over the duration, along with another year option to extend.

"We want to keep his feet on the ground, he's just a young lad. He's moving up the pay scale very fast.

"A yearly increase of around £5,000-a-week is on the cards. He's a very talented player and we want to make sure he's OK."

On top of Rashford's weekly wages, he can almost double his salary with win and appearance bonuses.

He also has scoring targets, which if achieved, can net the the United youth product even more cash.

United bosses have even talked about giving him a whole new contract, to make sure he is happy at the club.

Rashford recently moved his family to a new Cheshire mansion, and his old pad was taken over by youth team starlet Angel Gomes.

Mourinho is believed to have had a falling out with the teenage forward earlier this campaign.

The former Real Madrid coach was not impressed with his focus in matches or on the training pitch at Carrington.

But that has all changed now, and Rashford is firmly back into the first-team mix.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are ready to exercise a year-long extension to keep goalkeeper David de Gea at the club.

The 26-year-old - a long-time target of Real Madrid - is in-line for a bumper pay-rise until 2020.

United triggered a one-year extension on midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s deal last week, keeping him at the club until 2018.

And Jesse Lingard has also been given a new contract, with his wages being increased to a staggering £95,000-a-week.

Rashford - who has made six England appearances - has played 28 times for United and scored eight goals.
