STEVE BRUCE hopes to add some much needed thunder to Aston Villa’s flagging promotion hopes – after signing THOR!
Villa have confirmed SunSport’s story that Basel’s Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason was on his way to Villa after signing the 28-year-old shortly after noon today.
Bruce had earlier welcomed Barnsley's £3million right-back James Bree to Villa Park and is close to completing a third deal with Barnsley skipper Conor Hourihane expected to sign later today.

Bjarnason, who scored Iceland’s first ever goal in a major Championship against Portugal at Euro 16, said: “Villa is a very big club and I am looking forward to getting out on the pitch and helping the team.”
Meanwhile, Bree joins on a four-and-a-half year deal after 61 appearances for the Tykes.

However, Ross McCormack looks set to stay at Villa Park after Fulham ended their interest in re-signing the striker.
