Roberto Firmino has court date put back 24 hours for drink-driving charge so he can focus on Liverpool’s game against Chelsea

The Brazilian midfielder was charged with drink-driving after being pulled over in Liverpool city centre on Christmas Eve

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has been handed a huge boost with the news that Robert Firmino's court date has been moved.

The Brazilian was due to answer a drink driving charge tomorrow (Tuesday, January 31), the same day as the Reds host top-of-the-league Chelsea.

But that has now been delayed for 24 hours, meaning Firmino can concentrate on his preparations for the visit of the Londoners.

Firmino submitted a request for the hearing to be moved so it did not fall on the same day as a match.

So he will now appear at Liverpool magistrates' court on Wednesday, reports the .

It will come as a huge boost that Liverpool's top scorer with nine goals is available to Jurgen Klopp in the mouthwatering clash.

Merseyside Police confirmed the 25-year-old was arrested after his car was pulled over in the city during the early hours of December 24.
