WILLIAM CARVALHO finally looks set to join the Premier League, after he signed up with Pep Guardiola's brother's agency.

The Portuguese international, 24, has been a long-term target for European giants such as Arsenal and Monaco, but could now be on the way to Manchester City.

However, he looks set to link up with City after signing up to Pere Guardiola's agency.

Arsene Wenger turned down the chance to go in for the midfield anchorman after baulking at the £30million release fee clause, with Liverpool also keen on the Sporting Lisbon ace.

Carvalho only signed a new deal at the Primeira Liga side 12 months ago - after parting company with agent Jorge Mendes - with his release clause being introduced.

Since then, the midfielder has been without an agent - with Sporting rejecting a £20m bid from West Brom in August and January.

However, with the midfielder hoping to move on from Portugal to bigger and better things, he has linked up with Guardiola's agency.

The only stumbling block for Carvalho now appears to be Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho - who refused him a new deal in the summer and is looking to make a small fortune out of his transfer.

However, after joining up with Guardiola - who also looks after Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta - he looks one step closer to escaping Portugal, with Man City the favourites to land his signature.
