Fabregas, 29, spent three seasons back at the Nou Camp before returning to the Premier League with Chelsea.

After winning the title in his first season, he fell out of form in 2015 and the following year lost his place to N'Golo Kante.

This campaign he has made just five Premier League starts.

Real have completed their transfer ban and are hunting for new Galacticos.

Boss Zinedine Zidane is said to want a playmaker who has 'Barcelona DNA', having already told club president Florentino Perez of his wishes.

The Blues are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the midfield ace.

Fabregas has his heart set on an MLS move, where he would follow in the footsteps of compatriot David Villa.

When asked whether he would consider joining the Chinese Super League, he said: "You never know. Once I don’t think I can play in Europe, my plan at the moment is to go to the United States. But you never know."

Should Fabregas sign for Real - fierce rivals to his childhood club - he would join the list of a select few to make the daring switch.

Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldo and Luis Figo have all worn both shirts during their career.

Figo famously had a pig's head thrown at him when he returned to the Nou Camp after signing for Real.
