NOTTINGHAM FOREST have appointed interim boss Gary Brazil as first team manager until the end of the season.

Brazil, 54, has transformed Forest's fortunes since taking over from sacked Frenchman Philippe Montanier last month, steering them to three wins in his four games in charge.

The former Academy boss will be assisted by his No.2 Jack Lester and first team coach Rob Page until the end of the campaign after holding successful talks with owner Fawaz Al Hasawi on Wednesday.

However Brazil knows he still faces a fight to hang on to his job beyond this season with Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough still believed to be on Fawaz’s radar – despite knocking back the chance to follow in father’ Brian’s famous footsteps last week to lead Burton’s bid to stay in the Championship.

But it is unclear whether the Forest owners are likely to look at Brazil beyond the end of this current campaign

Clough significantly did not rule out a move to the City Ground one day but felt the time was not right with the Brewers fighting for their lives in the Championship.

“Having started this historic season in the Championship, it is only right that we should stay and continue the job of trying to achieve the miracle of keeping Burton Albion in the Championship.

“Staying is the right thing to do.”
