ANFIELD OF DREAMS

Jurgen Klopp dreams of Liverpool winning their last 14 Prem games to pip Chelsea to title – but he boasts eerily similar record to predecessor Brendan Rodgers

The Reds are still without a Premier League victory in 2017 and have crashed out of both domestic cups.

It is Liverpool’s worst start to a calendar year since 1954, when they went down.

Defeat to Spurs today would further hit their Champions League qualification hopes.

Kop boss Klopp said: “In my dreams we can win 14 games. I know how it sounds  but I cannot change my dreams and that is what I am working for.”

KLOPP AND RODGERS' IDENTICAL RECORD

Jurgen Klopp's impact at Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers’ replacement in October 2015 has added up to  three fewer goals.

Mind you, he does not have Luis Suarez at his disposal! In his 54 league games in charge,  the German’s record is  virtually identical to his predecessor’s opening 54 matches.

So if managers are judged on their results, Klopp can expect 3½  years in the hotseat, taking him to early 2019.Their identical records

  • Games 54
  • Wins 26
  • Draws 16
  • Defeats 12
  • 94 points out of 162
  • Win rate 48 per cent

Their slight differences

  • 110 goals scored under Rodgers
  • 107 goals scored under Klopp
  • 61 goals conceded under Rodgers
  • 70 goals conceded under  Klopp

The German is enduring his worst spell of results since taking charge at Anfield in October 2015.

But he added: “In this moment I am nearly  nil-point-nil interested in what has gone on.

“I’m more interested in what will be, what we can do, what results we can get, what   performances we can show, and where and when we can deliver.

“After the next 14 games is another moment, when we look back.

“Then we use all these experiences and everything we learned about each other.

“Then we will make decisions that will help us in the next season.”

However, Klopp admits he was furious with last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Hull, which sent his side sliding outside of the top four for the first time since November.

He added: “If we play like we did in the first half at Hull, we have no chance.

“I’m still angry about that, absolutely — we should not play like this.

“It’s my responsibility but that doesn’t mean that I can’t be angry.

“I can be angry at myself, at everything, that’s what happened.

“Sometimes it is not important why you did it wrong, you have to fix it immediately. We have be ready for Tottenham. Let’s go for it.”

Klopp’s only big doubts are Adam Lallana, over his Achilles issue, and Dejan Lovren’s bang on the knee.

He is also considering recalling Loris Karius after keeper Simon Mignolet’s latest blunder.
