Lionel Messi signs new lifetime deal with Adidas…as Barcelona clamber to keep Argentinian superstar at Nou Camp

The 29-year-old has failed to agree a new deal to extend his stay with the Spanish giants with his current contract due to expire in 2018

LIONEL MESSI has finally put pen to paper to sign a lifetime contract extension...but not with his club Barcelona.

The Argentinian superstar is locked in talks to prolong his stay at the Nou Camp, but he has encountered no problems in a agreeing a new deal with German boot manufacturer Adidas.

He confirmed the deal on his official Facebook page along with a picture, in which he said: "Happy to be able to continue working with adidas for many more years!"

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is the poster boy for the company, in which he regularly features in promotional videos and events and boasts one of the most lucrative sponsorship deals in the world.

Despite the 29-year-old spending his whole career playing in Catalonia for Barca, he has so far failed to work out terms on a new contract, with his current one expiring after the 2017/18 season.

Even though he is widely expected to be staying on in Spain with the La Liga champions, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are still monitoring his situation.
