Art attack

Jose Mourinho believes pundits would say Man United’s football was like ‘art’ if someone else was in charge

United boss Mourinho says his team aren't getting the praise they deserve because of his reputation for defensive football

JOSE MOURINHO has hit out at the press for not giving his Man United team the praise it deserves after their 2-0 win over Watford.

The Red Devils controlled the game at Old Trafford, producing an excellent display to run out convincing winners.

But the Special One claims a team managed by him will never grab the same headlines as one managed by another of the game's top bosses.

Speaking after today's win, he said: “It was very good. I think it’s the kind of football that if, instead of being a Mourinho team, it’s someone else’s team you’d say it’s art.

"But because it’s my team you just say it’s very good."

Mourinho's United team have impressed with their expansive style of football, which many believe to be a marked improvement on Louis Van Gaal's drab possession game.

Fans of the club even have a new song with the words "Jose's got us playing the way United should."

But he has a reputation for "parking the bus" from his time at Chelsea, which has proved difficult to shake.

Nevertheless Mourinho was delighted that the United fans appreciated his style of play, even if the pundits, apparently, didn't.

He said: "We played very well and the fans understood.

"They were behind them and they pushed them. The first half was amazing.

"In the second half we scored the second goal and we had to kill the game.

"We didn’t kill it with 3-0 but we killed it tactically."

United's win today also saw them become the first team to reach 2,000 points in the Premier League era.
