Angel Di Maria said his former Real Madrid teammates thanked him after Paris Saint-Germain’s thrashing of Barcelona

FOLLOWING Angel Di Maria's dream night against Barcelona in the Champions League his former Real Madrid teammates apparently thanked him.

The Argentine midfielder shone, scoring two goals, as Paris Saint-Germain dispatched Barca 4-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani scored, adding to Di Maria's exquisite free-kick and edge-of-the-box curler.

Di Maria joking told : "My friends in Madrid have already congratulated me."

It's unclear whether or not his former Madrid teammates thanked him, but they will also be on a high after coming back from behind to beat Napoli 3-1.

The Argentine spent four years at the Bernabeu, from 2010-2014, before moving to Manchester United.

What would have made PSG's win even more sweeter for Di Maria is the fact he lost 5-0 to Barca during his time in Spain.

Not only was Di Maria celebrating the victory over his former rivals, but it was also his birthday.

The attacking midfielder and Cavani both recieved birthday cakes following the victory.

The two goal scorers both had beaming smiles on their faces in the dressing room at full time, with their cakes and huge sprinklers.
